Hughes wary of Inverness' away form

Having won 4-0 when they were last on the road, John Hughes has warned his Hibs team not to underestimate Saturday's visitors Inverness.

John Hughes has urged caution ahead of the visit of Inverness to Easter Road this Saturday, warning it will be no easy task to earn an unwanted run of poor home form. Hibs haven’t won at home since March 6, a run of six matches without victory.

Caley travel to Edinburgh having crushed last season’s third placed side, Dundee United, 4-0 at Tannadice the last time they were on their travels.

That result has caused Hughes to talk up the difficulty his team will face in trying to pick up their second win of the season but says his players must not show their opposition too much respect.

“For any team to go to Tannadice and win 4-0, it shows you how difficult a game it's going to be,” said Hughes. “We're going to have to be at our best to try to match that.

“We're at home, we want to get back to winning ways. It's all about us. It's just a matter of getting it right and making sure that Inverness know they're in a game.”

Kilmarnock were the last team to lose at Easter Road, going down 1-0 to Derek Riordan’s goal 12 minutes from time. But Inverness have a strong recent record against the Edinburgh club, having not lost to them since a 2-0 defeat in February 2008.

In Caley’s last full season in the top flight, 2008/09, they took a 2-1 win from Easter Road in November 2008. They also remained unbeaten against the Edinburgh club that season, drawing 1-1 at home in August and then winning 2-0 in February.

What’s written in the history books is of no interest to Hughes however, who says his team can break their hoodoo as long as they give their all.

“It will happen - you just go and play football,” he said. “You make sure you're spirited, hard working and you go and play football and it will turn - you'll get a win.

“You get nothing out of football, no matter who you play, if you're not prepared to put the shift in.

“If we work at it, there's every chance the three points will stay at Easter Road.”
