As St Mirren captain, John Potter has attended numerous functions where members of the club's triumphant 1987 Scottish Cup side are lauded.
So Potter knows just how much reverence the current group of players are close to achieving ahead of Sunday's Co-operative Insurance Cup final.
"It will be a great occasion for us as a team but the great occasion will only really happen if we win it," he said.
The Hampden clash against Rangers is the first national final since Ian Ferguson lashed home the only goal against Jim McLean's Dundee United side.
And for Potter and the vast majority of the Buddies squad, it is their first such occasion in their careers.
The 30-year-old said: "It's been a long time coming since we've got to a national final.
"As players, we have been looking forward to it since the semi-final. It's a big thing and we know if we get the result it will certainly be a big thing.
"Around the stadium, the cup-winning team is always mentioned and even at dinners you always see the cup-winning team about.
"So we know we are 90 minutes away - 90 minutes of hard work and a good performance - but 90 minutes away from achieving something in our careers and hopefully getting a cup medal."
