Kenny McLean has been ruled out for six weeks after breaking his collarbone in training.
The St Mirren midfielder has been an influential player in Danny Lennon’s side this season but the manager will have to do without him until March after the injury blow.
"It was just an accidental collision with one of the young players," McLean told Press Association Sport.
"The physio took me to hospital and the X-ray showed that I had a broken collar bone.
"I will be out for six weeks but these things happen and you just need to get on with it.
"I can't do anything for a week or two until the sling comes off then we will see if I can do some jogging. But hopefully I will be back soon enough."
McLean has made 25 appearances for the Buddies this season, scoring twice. He was named as Clydesdale Bank Young Player of the Month for October 2011.
