Paul di Resta has vowed not to let his dream of being in a winning car impact on a campaign with Force India in which he knows he has to improve.
Di Resta enjoyed a solid debut season last year, in particular the second half when he scored 25 of his 27 points to help the team to their highest finish of sixth in the constructors' championship.
The 25-year-old conjured the kind of performances that ensure many teams have their eye on the Scot who, if he continues to deliver in the coming season, could find himself being head hunted.
The suggestion is Mark Webber, Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa are heading into their final year with Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari respectively, ensuring three top seats are available in 2013.
Di Resta is aware of the rumours, but after yesterday taking the wraps off the new Force India at Silverstone, his focus for now is solidly on the team.
"I wouldn't say it (the speculation) plays on my mind at the moment," he said.
"Obviously you want to be winning races, world championships and you want to be in the best position to do that.
"It's always been a dream to be in some of those cars at the front of the grid, but my commitment and concentration are with Force India.
"I have a contract with them, and my duty as a driver is to them, to be fully committed and to do as best as I can with that."
Older and wiser with a full season now under his belt, Di Resta is also claiming to be fitter and happier after employing the services of David Coulthard's former personal trainer Gerry Convy.
Di Resta has spent the last month training around his home in Monaco with Coulthard, Jenson Button, and Jamie Green, another Briton who drives in DTM.
"I've put in a lot of hours in training in January, upping the fitness level that little bit more, and I must say I'm ready for the challenge. I'm looking forward to getting back into it," said Di Resta.
"Working with Gerry has been great. I felt I needed a change to get to the next level. He has been pushing me on and I feel fitter now than a year ago.
"I'm probably training three or four hours a day at the moment, and I'm enjoying doing it, whereas before I never used to do it as much.
"I hope it will help me in the car this year. I certainly feel a lot better for it, and even if it doesn't make me any faster, I feel more happier in life than I've ever been."
Di Resta had the privilege yesterday of becoming the first driver this year to conduct a lap in a new car, putting the VJM05 through its paces via a series of installation laps in a shakedown test.
