India’s Jeev Milkha Singh claimed victory at the Scottish Open after a play-off victory over Francesco Molinari.

The 40-year-old beat the Italian on the first play-off hole after a five under final round at Castle Stuart.

It was a heartbreaking end to the week for the 29-year-old who had led the tournament from the start and holed a ten foot putt at the last to gain a place in the showdown.

After both players finished on seventeen under for the championship, Singh held his nerve with Molinari carding a five in the sudden-death decider.

Singh’s win guarantees also guarantees him a spot at next week’s Open Championship.

Scotland’s Marc Warren played his way into contention on the final day before dropping shots at three of the final four holes to finish joint third.

The 31-year-old Glaswegian double-bogeyed the 15th before moving down to 16 under with mistakes at 16 and 17.
