Paul O’Hara, member of the European Cup winning team, was hoping to add his name to the trophy which is brother won in 2000, becoming the first siblings to win the trophy in the process.
Another contender David Low arrived off the back of winning the Boys Amateur Championship in April. No golfer has ever done the double, but at the tender age of 18, did he have enough to mix-it with the older players?
It went down to the wire, but Aberdonian David Low pipped it on the final day with some exquisite putting. With Paul O’Hara pushing him hard until the very end, the tournament will be remembered for a long time to come.
