Andy Robinson has named five uncapped players in his squad for Scotland’s summer tour.

Tim Visser, the Dutch-born Edinburgh wing, is joined by club team-mate Tom Brown and Glasgow Warriors trio Ryan Grant, Rob Harley and Tom Ryder.

“This is a tough tour for Scotland,” head coach Robinson said. “We’ll be playing against three attack-minded teams on their own turf. But it’s an important opportunity to start the rebuilding process after a disappointing Six Nations.

“One quarter of the squad has yet to start an international but we’ve seen from the manner in which Edinburgh and Glasgow have finished the domestic season that there’s confidence that we will be looking to build on.”

Scotland will face Australia (June 5), Fiji (June 16) and Samoa (June 23), with a planned fixture against New South Wales Waratahs having been cancelled. Ross Ford is named as captain of the 28-man squad for the trip.

Scotland squad to face Australia, Fiji and Samoa:

Backs: Joe Ansbro (London Irish), Mike Blair, Tom Brown (both Edinburgh), Chris Cusiter (Glasgow Warriors), Nick De Luca (Edinburgh), Max Evans (Castres), Alex Grove (Worcester Warriors), Stuart Hogg (Glasgow Warriors), Gregg Laidlaw (Edinburgh), Sean Lamont (Scarlets), Matt Scott (Edinburgh), Tim Visser (Edinburgh) and Duncan Weir (Glasgow Warriors)

Forwards: John Barclay (Glasgow Warriors), Geoff Cross, Ross Ford (both Edinburgh), Ryan Grant, Richie Gray, Dougie Hall, Rob Harley, Al Kellock (all Glasgow Warriors), Scott Lawson (Gloucester), Euan Murray (Newcastle Falcons), Ross Rennie (Edinburgh), Tom Ryder (Glasgow Warriors), Alasdair Strokosch (Gloucester), Richie Vernon (Sale Sharks), Jon Welsh (Glasgow Warriors).
