FInal Score Scotland 23 - 10 Fiji
Well - a win for Andy but a flattering scoreline and lots of pressure from Fiji at the death. Goodish performance upfront from Scotland and two tries even if one of them was a bit suspect. I suspect Robinson would have settled for that this morning but there's clearly work to be done on attack. Still - Fiji were above Scotland in the international ranking this morning so this is far form a negligible result.
80 mins Good tackling around the fringe but a terrible pass to Seremaia Bai, the Fiji captain, ends with a knock forward and the game is over.
Moray Low gets man of the match award. His strength in this final scrum under the Scottish posts will be crucial. Last play of the game.
79 mins Desperate defence on the line as Fiji press forward
77 mins Late charge from Wame Lewarawu into a ruck brings Mike Blair's game to a sudden close as he limps off. That won't do his confidence any good.
76 mins A final flourish from Fiji as the ball passes through many sets of hands. But forward progress is crutailed by good defencse. Then suddenly some width on the left looks dangerous and brings them to within 15 metres.
74mins At least they win a penalty. Touch and drive? Oh yes.5 metres out. All copy book stuff - but then they drop the scoring pass.
73 mins Now its Scotlnad runnig from deep as Fijian clearances fail to find touch. Danielli makes a terrible mess of it. Paterson show a bit more purpose. But it's not exactly penetrating
71 mins Long kick by Paterson in to 22 wins some terriotry and some sharp tackling and rucking wins possession. A Fijian hand in the next ruck gives the best kicker in Scotland a chance to get on the scoreboard - and he misses by a mile!
68 mins Hall on for Ford And a whole bunch of Fiji replacements
67 mins Long kick out to nowhere gives Fiji the ball and they start to run it back with interest. There's still danger for Scotland and they know it so they get penalised for trying to scoop the ball back off the floor.
65 mins And just as everyone is still shaikng hands, suddenly there's one of those little bits of Fijian magic, close interpassing between scrum half and lock winning them 50 metres. One more man over and Scotland were struggling.
62 mins Paterson on for Lamont R and Blair for Cusiter and Kyle Traynor gets his first cap on for Jacobsen. And then Jason White gets a big cheer, on for Strokosch
61 mins PENALTY Al Strokoscch caught tryingh to collar his opposite number around the throat gives Fiji another long range penalty which Little converts.
58 mins. Godman caught in possesion delaying the pass so long that Morrison could not have done anything with it anyway. Fortunately for Scotland Fiji knocked it on. Coudl have been a big interception otherwise.
56 mins Fijians getting some phases together. Not a huge amount of forward movement but looking better organised. Eventually cauuaght holding on in the tackle - which actuutally reflects solid Scotland tackling across the park
53 mins Well no-one could complain at the response to that kick off; lots of pressure back on the Fijians and some good tackling brings play to ten yards inside the Fiji half. Talk of Morrison running onto to a forward pass but the try stands.
51 mins TRY And they make it count, getting a good nudge on, keeping the defence bound in and then releasing Graeme Morrison on the flat crash ball to score under the posts. Good rugby all round. Godman converts.
50mins Good scrummaging wins a penalty close in to the line. Scotland opt for another scrum
47 mins Scotland win the lineout but the maul goes nowhere and Morrison is caught cold. Still going though, and Scotland win the put-in at the breakdown.
46 mins Lovely little show and go from Godman gets a few meters and then a chip into the corner rolls kindly
45 mins All in the middel 40 metres but Fiji getting a lot of ball. Scottish tackling quite solid and wins a penalty down to 15 m inside
43 mins Fiji miss a long range penalty attempt. Scotland are going to have to concentrate
42 mins Here we go. Only 21,836 crowded into Murrayfield today for Andy Robinson's first game in charge. Not great..
SECOND HALF
40 mins Try saving tackle from Danielli on the Fijian centre wins a penalty and last action of the first half. Score about right; but anyone who thinks this one is over has got it all wrong.
38 mins TRY for Fiji. Scotland caught right from the kick-off as they are so often. Thoguht they had stopped them, but a quick tap penalty and then a long flat pass puts Vereneki Goneva over in the right hand corner. And the conversion from NIcky Little
36 mins A decent burst of attacking from Fiji and a decent bit of defending from Scotland. Fiji get an attacking scrum under the posts though.
35 mins PENALTY Godman slots another long range one straight down the middle.
33 mins All a bit of a middle of the park to and fro at the moment but then with kickers so good from almsot anywhere in the opporitison half, you can't be too careful. Here's another opportunity for Godman whch Scotland didn't really win.
Thanks for your messages. David is complaining about the Fijian strip; Fijime? What's that about. Oddly enough, nobody saying "Robinson must go" yet.
27 mins PENALTY. Godman slots this one from the 22 comfortably
25 mins Rory Lamont comes very close again but just gets held up on the line and give away a penalty in their anxiety. But Fijian clearnace is poor and they give away a penlaty in midfiled. Mich easier this time
24 mins Fiji look vulnerable under the high ball. Yet more confusion and Scotland come away with it - sweet little chip into the left hand corner sees another Scottish lineout won as Danielli charges up on his opposite number
22 mins Looks like Josefa Domolailai, Fijis's No 6 got hurt trying to prevent the try. He's going off and Samu Bola is on. These Fijian names are cracking. No disrespect, but I suspect the odd spelling error may creep in.
21 mins TRY for Johnnie Beattie, as Scotland finally break through in midfield with Cusiter feeding the loose forwards. Johnnie's Dad is just along from me in the press box - looks very proud. Godman converts relatively simply
19 mins Turnover in midfield but Fiji win it back in the confusion. Long clearance to the opposite side from Lamont and a fine tackle by brother Sean follwing up wins a Scottish lineout
17 mins Another lofted kick puts pressure on Fijian midfieled who drop the ball and give away another penalty. A bit straighter though still long distance. But this time he hits the post.
15 mins Alarm as Fijians pour forward after kick off but they get allover the ruck and Scotland can clear
14 mins PENALTY GOAL Very decent kick by young Philip just drops over the bar. First blood but a long way to go yet.
12 mins Even a bit of watery sunshine breaks through. This time its Fiji giving away the penaties and finally this one is in range, just, for Godman.
10 mins Now a bit of pressure from Fiji down the left; usual good hands but some solid tackling. A couple of tense scrums lead to Fijian knock-on. Time to relieve the pressure and a further infringement gives a clear kick to Godman who obliges down to halfway.
6 mins Mauls are back; Scotland get a bit of movement on and nearly create an overlap down the right. But thenm as ti coems back left, Fiji nearly get an interception and Scotland are left handing on Penalty to Fiji.
4 mins Nice big tackle from new boy Alex Grove in midfield but again a bit over-eager gives away another penalty.
3 mins Decent kick from Rory Lamont drops awkwardly just outside Fijian 22 but Scotland a bit over eager and give away a penalty to relieve the pressure
2 mins Usual Scottish panic at kick-offs. But a decent first scrum sets upo some close in forward work and then a speculative kick from Godman gets a poor return from Fiji direct into touch.
2.30 National anthems all done. Fiji to kick off into what wind there is.
2.25 Here come the teams - big roar from not a huge crowd. Lors of blue and white balloons released swirling up into a grey Edinburgh afternoon. Windy enough to make kicking a challenge. What price the boot of Paterson on before the hour mark.
2.20 Well here we are, at Murrayfield, a bit squally but much drier than expected and not as windy as the south of England. Even so, welcome to the northen hemipshere for the Fijians and surely the conditions should be more to the home side's liking than the visitors.
Final teams line-up below; both sides as advertised which will be a relief to the Fijians who have had a torrid time pulling a team together at all.
