Robinson keeps faith in Scotland for Australia Test

Scotland will count on the same side which beat Fiji 23-10 last weekend to overcome rugby giants Australia in the second Autumn Test. New manager Andy Robinson is demanding an immediate improvement from his team.

Scotland have again opted for power and pace, with new cap Alex Grove earning a second run-out thanks to his bruising refusal to be cowed by the muscle of the Islanders. Chris Cusiter continues his role as captain and scrum half ahead of Mike Blair.

As Scotland eventually ground out their draw the Wallabies were preparing to face Grand Slam champions Ireland at Croke Park, where they battled out a spirited 20-20 draw.

Now Robinson is calling on the Scots to raise their game for the visit of the world number three side. He said: “We are giving the players the opportunity to perform against the Wallabies, who are a top quality international side – the sort that everyone wants to test themselves against.

“Competition for places is intense and we’ll be watching the Scotland A game against Tonga in Gala on Friday night very closely.

“But we are saying to the players for Saturday step up this weekend and show improvement.”
