Andy Robinson shares his thoughts on Autumn Tests

Robinson talks of the courage and commitment shown by his players but looked ahead to Argentina and explained his selection and where he sees room for improvement.

Robinson refused to rest on his laurels following the tense but rewarding match against the Wallabies, saying “Australia and Fiji are now part of the history books. Our focus now has to be on Argentina.”

The coach has made what he called “subtle” changes to the side for this weekend’s test. Three players will come into the side and there will be one positional shift as Scotland aim to make it three out of three in the Autumn Tests.

Edinburgh flanker Alan MacDonald will make his debut for Scotland at flanker, while Ben Cairns and Thom Evans will come into the back line. Mike Blair remains injured and will sit out the match. Alex Grove will move across to inside centre.

Robinson has said he wants to see an improvement in Scotland’s offloading game and stressed the importance of being more dangerous with the ball in hand. The coach also warned that if the opportunities given to Australia were handed to Argentina the side could be in for a difficult afternoon.

The coach also called for a repeat of the atmosphere that spurred the team to victory over Argentina. Calling the support “huge and inspiring”, he was clear that the Murrayfield crowd played their part in Saturday’s rousing win and could do the same against Argentina.
