SCOTLAND 6 -  9 ARGENTINA

It's been seven years since Scotland won three tests in a row. Has Andy Robinson made a Scottish team that believes they can win at last? Clearly not yet. Send us your thoughts on the game. Tell me what you think, via e-mail at sport@stv.tv or text on 81441 (texts cost 25p, full ts&cs here). Don't forget to refresh this page to keep up with the commentary.

80 mins And that's that - with Argentina going forward at the death.

77 mins DROP GOAL And Rodriguez drops that goal. Disaster for Scotland - but all to predictable.

76 mins And they show how to do proper passing too - putting the ball in front of the man bvrings Borges close and sets up the riuck under the posts.

74 mins Fernandez shows how it should be done - good  touch inside Scotland's 22. But Scotland win the penalty at theline-out Relief all round.

73 mins Final sub is Lawson for Cusiter. But its Godman who has been the weak link in this performance - poor disitrbution and some very ordinary kicking.

72 mins. Evans has another crank - he looks dangerous every time he gets the ball. Godman finds apoor touch with penalty.

71 mins Long range drop goal from Fernandez also falls short. Game balanced on a knife edge

68 mins Scotland halted in midfield again - just not the cutting edge. Oh, for an O'Driscoll or indeed a Renwick or a Lineen.

66 mins Dashing run from Lamont gets the crowd roaring as Scotland make 50 metres but Cusiter can't quite outpace the Argentine captain.

65mins Rodriguez has a go from half-way - just drops short. But shows the danger Scotland are in.

64 mins On come Hall and Traynor for Ford and Jacobsen. About time.

63 mins Just a conicidecne but Paterson gets the ball at fly half in open play and gets it to Evans - my word he's quick that boy. So close to giving the scoring pass.

61 mins Again Scotland pour forward with reasonably quick ball but another poor Godman pass, behind his man,  slows down the attack and Argenitna win it back in the ruck. 28, 292 in the crowd. Might have been 30k if the SRU sold tickets on the day,

59 mins On comes Jason White for Hines, now out the sinbin. Immediate wins a penalty for Scotland to make some ground.

58 mins PENALTY No mistake from Rodriguez. Now we'll see if Robinson has got the winning mentality into his team.

57 mins Freshing ujp the front row has given Argentina much mroe heart. the similarites will last week are hard to avoid. Argenitne coaches along from me looking quite perky and sure enough Johnnie Beattie gets pinged for holding on in the tackle. Shoud be a simple penalty.

55 mins Scotland scrum goes into reverse and only a sharp clearance kick rescues them. Argentian growing in confidence all the time - and no wonder

54 mins Some powerful running by Argentina knocking Scots back in the tackle. On comes Nick de Luca for Cairns

52 mins Valiant attempt by Albacete to keep penalty out of touch leads to attacking line-out.But again loss of control and a knock-on hands initiative back to Argentina and a 70 metres clearance kick from Rodriguez puts Scotland back under pressure.

51 mins Poor pass by Godman puts Grove under pressure in midfield and Scotland lose possession. Fortunately Argies knock-on

49 mins PENALTY Rodriguez does well to keep his calm after long delay and lands a longish kick

48 mins And Hines is in the bin for dumping his opposite number him in tackle. Bit harsh that one. But on  comes Chris Paterson for Lamont R - big cheer as ever. Big delay while Rory Lamont is attended to. Now its Argenina with 88% possession in this half so far.

46 mins But losing your own line-out is not clever. Is that the thrid or fourth? And its disaster fro Scotland as the Argiue sspin it wide. Borges is tackled but kicked on by Tiesi and Cusiter has to scramble to touch down and save Scotland's blushes. Lamont R has taken a knock making that crucial tackle.

45 mins Scotland have some defending to do - and they do it well, eventually turning over the winger and winning a penalty. Clearance to the Scottsih 10 metre line.

43 mins Argentina turn it over and spread it wide - first right and then back left. Making progress here - over the 22 and still they come.

41 mins And a little inside slip pass from Cusiter to Beattie looks more like the sort of guile Scogtland are going to need.

40 mins Argie kick off not ten metres. Scrum Scotland on half way.

SECOND HALF

40 mins And so the firsthalf ends, with Scotand losing their own line-out. Hardly the stirring do-or die of last week, but a slender lead at any rate.

38 mins Looks like a shoulder injury to Argentine hooker Alberto Vernet Basualdo is going to end his game. Augustin Creevy comes on

37 mins A little flurry from Argentine from the kick off. Goign through the phases but unable to get tru the first line of defence.

35 mins PENALTY And finally Godman nails it. Sighs of relief all round.

34 mins Good retrun punt by Rory Lamont well followed up catches two Argies off side. Another penalty on ten metres

33 mins Rory Lamont shows his strength as an auxiliary wing forward supporting his brother in the trackle and makes another five metres. But again loss of control lets Scotland down. You;d have to say the Argies don;t look all that uncomfortable under all this pressure.

32 mins. Johnnie Beattie needs every bit of his 6' 4" frame to puck a wild Godman poass out of the air. Scotland get a nudge on in a maul but it ends in a penalty for Argentina

31mins But you have to win those line-outs. Scotland lucky to get another go.

30 mins Signs of frustration from the Argies after they are penalised for going roiund thw wrong side. This time Godman for the corner takes Scotland to the 22

28 mins More Scotland pasing along the line, Littel rgubber form Godman but charged down. Still the oild penetration problem - or rather the lack of it. Only 3-0 after half an hour?

27mins Argentina tackling is pretty solid - and that's a really good take on the follow-up. But Scotland turn him  over on their ten metre line .

24 mins Alex Grove hears tunes of glory as he hacks on, following up another kick. But there was an infringment so all back to half-way. Scotland have completed 101 passes to Argentina's 13. Biut like last week only the other way round.

22mins Argentina do well to clear their lines but Scotland come back with an overlap that Thom Evans fails to use. Still, wins a penalty 35 metres out. But although conditions are good for kicking Godmans misses another.

21 mins Ross Ford gets a warning from the ref for back chat. Keep yoiur heads lads. LIne out on the line well taken by Argentina.

20 mins Sean Lamont does some serious damage in midfiled with a sharp change of direction. More good work brings Scotland and Rory Lamont into the left hand corner just a couple of metres short. Finally a Godman cross-kick whcih Srokosch can;' quite gather.

18mins Rory Lamont looks much more the attacking force we know today. Carins again makes good ground and is hauled into touch but tacklers gives away another penalty for holding on on the ground. Much harder this time on the rt touch line and it drifts across the posts..

16 mins. Ben Cairn breaks the line again and sets up a scrum right on half-way

13 mins PENALTY. 3-0 Just as you think all this passing is not really going anywhere the Argies give away a penalty for going over the top at the ruck in front of the posts. Young Master Godman does the honours - and that's about what Scotland are worth so far..

11 mins. Al Strokosch sacked in midfield by the Argentine front row after a dart by Max Evans.

9mins More high hanging punts from both sides. But both sides seem reasonably secure under the high ball.

8 mins Sean Lamont misses the tackle following up antoher kick and the Argentine winger runs back wtih interest. Still, good tackling.

7mins Now the kicking battle begins, a high hanging punt and Argentina win it back - but a loose kick slices into touch.

5mins First line out goes to Argentina. Chuck Jacobsen gives a penalty for a swingin arm at the ruck and weirdly Argentina have a punt at goal from the half way line. Happily Rodriguez slices it.

3 mins And again they come, Rory Lamont in the line at speed. All sorts of excitement. But another infringement (holding on) alows Aregentina to clear their lines. Promising stuff though.

1 min. And early signs of enterprise from the new back line. I think that's more passes down the line in the first minute than we saw in the whole game last week.

14.28 So that's the formalities over. now for the real matter in hand. Scotland to kick off, playing south to north.

14.23 Here come the teams for real - to the stirring tune of Highland Cathedral (written, of course, by a couple of Germans about 15 years ago).

14.15 Hello and welcome; the teams are just warming up on the pitch - and warming up they will need to do on a cold Edinburgh afternoon. If the Argentine  players are as cold as the Argentine press guys sitting next to me, then Scotland should be fine!
