Magners League: Glasgow's game is off, with only two games going ahead.
Magners League action continues this weekend as the race begins to grab a play-off spot with just eight games of the regular season remaining. With three games already postponed because of the weather, just four teams are in action this weekend and you can catch all the highlights on STV Rugby from 4.45pm on Sunday on STV and live online.
Edinburgh are the only Scottish team in action take to the field on Saturday with a home game against Cardiff Blues. Rob Moffat’s team were joint top of the Magners League going into the inter-city double header but now find themselves in fifth place, outside of the play-off places.
Chris Paterson and co ruined the Blues’ party when they gatecrashed the opening of their new ground earlier in the season with an opening day victory, so the Welsh team – sitting eighth in the table – will be keen to have their revenge as they try to mount a late assault on climbing into a play-off position.
Glasgow Warriors' trip to Dublin to play Leinster fell by the wayside on Friday morning with players and staff already having travelled to the Irish capital. A hard overnight frost in Dublin, with temperatures of around minus five, made the pitch at the RDS unplayable and the game was postponed following an 11am inspection.
A heavy snowfall also blighted last minute efforts to clear the pitch on Friday morning and – following additional safety advice from local police over spectator safety – it was decided to announce the third Magners League postponement of the weekend.
Leinster chief executive Mick Dawson said: "Unfortunately the pitch is unplayable despite a huge amount of effort made by the RDS ground staff over the last week to get the game played. The weather just caught us out in the end because we were confident that it could go ahead up until yesterday evening.
"Following Garda and health and safety advice, we had to consider supporters travelling to the game from the far reaches of Leinster and beyond as well as the safety of the players as the roads and pathways around the ground are also treacherous."
Connacht’s game with Dragons and Ulster’s home tie with Ospreys have both been cancelled because of the winter weather. Scarlets’ trip to face Munster on Sunday has survived so far, with the Irish club preparing to switch the game to nearby Thomond Park should their Musgrave Park home be deemed unplayable.
