Magners League rugby coverage will return to STV again this season with a dedicated highlights show every Sunday night after the weekend’s action. STV Sports Centre: Magners League Rugby will be broadcast every Sunday night after the late news, with 30 minutes worth of highlights from the best of the games.

The first edition, which will be on STV at 11.15pm on Sunday, September 5, will accompany the start of the 2010/11 season, which gets underway this weekend with two Friday night games and four on Saturday.

Glasgow Warriors are in action first on Friday, as they welcome last season’s beaten finalists Leinster to Firhill. On the same night, Ulster will play host to champions Ospreys at Ravenhill.

Edinburgh then start their season on Saturday evening with a trip to face Cardiff Blues, the side to which Scotland’s Dan Parks moved to in the summer from the Warriors.

The league’s two new Italian entrants – Aironi and Benetton Treviso – will make their debut this weekend with Benetton Treviso at home on Saturday as Scarlets go to the Stadio di Monigo. Aironi meanwhile are on the road and will head for Munster for their first game.

If you miss the show, you can also catch up with highlights from all the games on the STV Player for up to seven days after it is broadcast.

The Magners League regular season will run from September 3 through to the weekend of May 6, 2011. The play-offs to determine the winners will then get underway with the semi-finals taking place on the weekend of May 14 and the final being held on the weekend of May 28.

Leinster finished the 2009/10 regular season at the top of the Magners League table, before defeating Munster in the semi-finals. Glasgow Warriors then fell to Ospreys in the other semi-final, before the Welsh club went onto to defeat Leinster 17-12 in the final in Dublin.
