Glasgow Warriors full-back Stuart Hogg will make his first Scotland start in the Six Nations match against France at Murrayfield on Sunday.
The teenager’s inclusion is one of four changes from the side that lost to Wales earlier this month.
Scotland coach Andy Robinson has also picked Hogg’s Warriors team-mates Graeme Morrison and John Barclay in addition to Edinburgh’s Mike Blair.
Morrison and Barclay will play at centre and flanker, with Blair at scrum-half, while Rory Lamont will start at right wing with his brother Sean at outside centre.
Robinson said that Hogg had earned his start after impressing when introduced from the bench at the Millennium Stadium. He also added that Morrison would have a point to prove.
“Stuart Hogg did well off the bench in Cardiff, stood out in the A team victory over England Saxons and has been one of Glasgow’s most consistent performers this season,” he said.
“He fully deserves his first start.
“Graeme Morrison has worked hard back at Glasgow and captained the team in their games against Scarlets and Connacht. He is a good ball carrier and has something to prove on his return to the Scotland team,”
Hogg said that he would be fulfilling a lifetime ambition and now hoped to help the national team record their first win of the tournament.
“It’s a dream come true to play international rugby,” he said.
“When I was a kid we’d play full contact rugby in the street in the Weensland area of Hawick. I’d be about five and there would be kids there up to about 12 or 13-years-old and you’d always think about what it would be like to play for Scotland.
“Now I’ve got the opportunity to win for Scotland at Murrayfield – brilliant.”
