Edinburgh lost out to Cardiff Blues as they warm up for next weekend’s Heineken Cup semi-final against Ulster.

The hosts ran in six tries to end their five-match losing streak with Alex Cuthbert contributing with a hat-trick.

Phil Godman kicked an early penalty for Edinburgh before Blues scrum-half Lloyd Williams scored the opening try.

Cuthbert opened his account for the day with a Godman drop-goal the only thing the visitors had to cheer.

Walesstar Cuthbert was on target again with Luke Hamilton powering over for a bonus-point.

The hat-trick was completed shortly afterwards with Harry Leonard responding for Michael Bradley’s side.

Josh Navidi capitalised on a run from Kristian Dacey to finish the scoring with Blair doing the honours with the boot throughout the 80 minutes.
