Chris Paterson scored a try on his final appearance for EdinburghSNS Group

Chris Paterson’s final home game for Edinburgh ended with a 44-21 victory over Italian side Treviso.

The former Scotland international scored a try at Murrayfield to add to scores from Dave Denton, Greig Laidlaw, Tim Visser and Kyle Traynor.

Rising star Laidlaw also added 19 points with his boot to give Michael Bradley’s men their sixth league win of the season.

The visitors got on the scoreboard thanks to a double from Ludovico Nitoglia and one from Edoardo Gori.

With the hosts already certain to finish second bottom of the table, they were determined to finish the season on a high.

Laidlaw scored a penalty before David Denton powered over the line.

So effective with the boot, Laidlaw scored a try of his own before cutting through Treviso’s defence.

Nitoglia replied for the Italians but another score from Laidlaw gave Edinburgh a 23-7 lead.

Indiscipline from Treviso cost them as Paterson won a race for the line.

Both sides traded tries with Traynor ending the scoring on his final appearance for the club.
