Andy Murray and Roger Federer are set to continue their rivalry in front of a packed audience at London’s O2 Arena tonight in the ATP World Tour Finals.
Murray holds a 6-3 ATP Tour record against the world number one and goes into their match in London having won his opening game against Juan Martin Del Potro on Sunday.
The Swiss player though has come out on top when it matters most, having won against the Scot in the 2008 US Open final. He also has a 7-0 record in second round matches at the ATP event.
Federer is looking forward to take on the Scot and continue the sporting rivalry they have developed this season.
"I think I managed to play really well in the important points, which is something I think you have to do if you want to beat the top guys," he said.
"I played a lot of big matches this year, and I played well. I beat a lot of good players."
Despite the world number one’s confidence, Murray can still draw on his three-hour epic triumph in Shanghai earlier this year.
"I hope we can live up to the expectations and play another good one,” Federer said. “Obviously I expect a difficult match. It's always fun playing your rivals."”
The first shock of the tournament came yesterday in Group B when Robin Soderling beat Nadal with a 6-4 6-4 victory.
