Andy Murray has lost the Shanghai Masters final, defeated 7-5 6-7 3-6 by Novak Djokovic in a pulsating final.

The Scot came out on top in an enthralling first set but lost the second in an epic tie-break. Djokovic then completed his comeback in the third, breaking Murray twice in what was a thrilling match that saw both players give their all.

in the second, the Scot moved up a gear, and looked to be heading for a straight sets victory at 5-4. Murray then had five championship points but failed to get over the line before Djokovic roared back from the brink of defeat to clinch the second set in a 13-11 tie-break.

With the momentum firmly behind him, the Serb wore down a determined Murray to hand him his first defeat in 13 matches in Shanghai. Serving to stay in the match at 3-5, Murray saved two championship points, but could not stop Djokovic from taking a title that had been his for the last two years.
