Andy Murray believes he can benefit from Marin Cilic’s marathon weekend clash when the pair meet in the fourth round of Wimbledon.
Despite not finishing his own match against Marcos Baghdatis until 11.02pm on Saturday, the world number four believes it will be the Croatian that struggles with the pace on Court One.
Cilic was involved in a five-set thriller with American Sam Querrey before coming through 17-15 in the final set, in a match lasting five hours and 31 minutes.
That total made the match the second longest in Wimbledon history, behind the Isner-Mahut classic of 2010.
Speaking about the toll the game could have on his opponent, the British number one said: "You always kind of know what's going on around you, but when the scoreboard was coming up and it was 14-14 then 15-15, there's a bit of me thinking, 'That's great for me - or for Marcos'.
"Guys can recover, though. It was a five-hour match. When I played Novak [Djokovic] in Australia, our match was pretty much five hours, and then he played six hours against Rafa [Nadal].
"So you can recover. The day off definitely, definitely helps, but hopefully I'll be the fresher."
However the 23-year-old believes he will have no problems physically when coming up against the Scot.
He said: "We didn't have too many rallies that were physically tough. It was a lot of serving and one or two shots. I would say it was more mentally tough to stay in there.
"I feel I'm going to be okay, because I don't feel any soreness in my muscles or anything."
Murray also played down any concerns over his fitness after taking a few tumbles during his four set victory over Baghdatis.
He said: "There's nothing I'm too worried about. I've got a few bumps and bruises."
