Scottish boxer Willie Limond says he is still learning after losing his British lightweight title challenge against Anthony Crolla in Motherwell.

The 32-year-old was well beaten by the Mancunian at the Ravenscraig Sports Centre and the Scot said he knew early on that he was up against it.

"It was an uphill battle straight away," said the Glaswegian.

"It was a tough fight.

"Crolla was really good, I have to give him his due and that was it. He was better than me.

"He dictated the fight and to be fair it was one-sided.

"I was gutted (with the scorecard) but there was nothing there last night. I don't know what it was with me.

"But I am taking nothing away from him, he was better than me and won the fight.

"Crolla is a good fighter and he can go far in the game."

The judges marked the fight as the 120-108, 120-108 and 120-109 in favour of the 25-year-old and afterwards Crolla praised Limond’s effort.

He said: "Willie was very brave, but there were times when I probably should have put him out but I am learning.

"Against a fighter who people thought it was a 50-50 shot, I'm very happy."

However Crolla was tight-lipped over a possible bout against Ricky Burns.

He added: "I am not the sort of fighter who shouts out fights, but if that was a possibility it would be great."

However Burns doesn’t appear to be keen, saying: "If Anthony and Kevin Mitchell fought I might take on the winner," he said.

"But right now I think there are probably bigger fights out there for me."
