A Scottish-born American football player has played a starring role in helping his team reach the Super Bowl for the second time.
Lawrence Tynes kicked a 31-yard winning field goal which saw the New York Giants beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 to reach Super Bowl XLVI.
The Greenock-born player will once again feature in America’s biggest sporting showpiece when his side take on the New England Patriots in Indianapolis on February 5.
The 33-year-old hit the headlines back in 2008 when he scored a 47-yard field goal against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game.
That year saw Tynes and the Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl XLII.
Tynes said: "It's amazing. It's my second NFC Championship game and my second game-winner.
"I had dreams about this last night, but it was from 42 (yards) not 31.
"I was so nervous today, just anticipating this kind of game. I knew I was going to have to make a kick."
