Scottish Grand National: Sean Batty’s weather report

Well, it's looking like a showery few days across much of the country but it does look as though the Ayr racecourse will be spared the worst on Friday.

Lots of heavy showers look as though they will spark off over large parts of the country on Friday, however, they should be fairly well scattered over Ayrshire.

As of Thursday the going was good to soft, although I expect we might see this move more to soft by the weekend after some heavy showers during the early hours of Saturday.

I have given a 70% chance of a shower on Friday as I think the showers should be few and far between, although still a risk of a heavy one. On Saturday I have increased the likelihood to 90% as there will be more showers around and some will be rather heavy and slow moving.

Those heading for the races should make sure they are close to a marquee or the Grandstand to get quick shelter from any passing showers, although, it will feel fairly pleasant in the sunshine with light winds.
