Carl Froch paid respect to fellow Super Six contender Mikkel Kessler who he meets in the ring early next year in their second fight of the tournament.
The 32-year-old WBC super middleweight champion is relishing the chance of a fight with the WBA champion Kessler, but maintained he has “big respect” for the Dane.
“Kessler is a very proud warrior, he means business, no trash talk and straight. You know where you stand with him,” said the Nottingham boxer.
“He’s proven at world level. The only loss he suffered is against Joe Calzaghe so he’s got to be treated with big respect and I would never trash talk him or ever try to disrespect him in any way because he’s a fighter of my own kind.
“He’s a proud, proud warrior so to fight him would be an honour and it’s a fight I feel I can win,” said Froch who is undefeated in 25 fights with 20 knockouts.
The Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament will see six of the top super middleweight boxers battle it out to be crowned the best.
Froch will put his WBC title on the line against American Andre Dirrell in his first fight of the competition on October 17 in Nottingham, while on the same night in Germany Arthur Abraham will face Jermain Taylor.
